Adobe has announced an exciting expansion of its AI capabilities into the realm of video editing with upcoming additions to its Premiere Pro software. Slated for release later in 2024, these new generative AI tools are designed to streamline video production workflows and inspire creativity among video editors and producers.
Key enhancements include features like Generative Extend, which can automatically add frames to video clips, aiding editors in crafting seamless transitions and perfectly timed edits. Additionally, the Object Addition and Removal tool will allow for precise manipulation of objects within a scene—be it adding new elements or removing unwanted ones, such as modern objects in a period piece's background.
Furthermore, Adobe is introducing a Text to Video feature, leveraging generative AI to create video clips from textual descriptions and reference images. This tool is expected to be particularly useful for generating storyboards and supplementing live-action footage with B-roll.
These features are powered by Adobe’s expanding Firefly AI model range, which now extends into video, adding to its existing capabilities in imaging, audio, and 3D modeling.
Adobe’s Senior Vice President, Ashley Still, emphasized that these advancements are about reimagining video creation from the ground up, addressing common challenges faced by professionals while enhancing their ability to focus on creative storytelling.
In addition to video tools, Adobe also announced AI-driven enhancements in audio editing, set to be available from May. These include Interactive Fade Handles, a redesigned waveform interface, and smart tagging of audio clips through the new Essential Sound badge.
These innovations promise to make Premiere Pro a more powerful tool for video and audio editors, driving efficiency and fostering creative possibilities in the digital media landscape.
